Alabama Building Training and Assessment Center (ABTAC) aims at promoting sustainable buildings at the state and national levels. This aim will be achieved by providing energy assessments and efficiency recommendations to our clients, and creating, translating, and disseminating knowledge of building technologies and energy saving approaches to nurture sustainable commercial and institutional buildings.
What We Do
- We conduct no-cost energy assessments for commercial buildings, currently K-12 schools and government buildings, by a group of undergraduate and graduate students, led by an experienced faculty member. All the student recruitment and visit costs are covered.
- We prepare a report containing the current energy usage breakdown and detailed calculations of potential energy savings and implementation costs for the recommended updates.
- We work with our clients toward seeking potential funding sources for implementing our energy saving recommendations.
- We work with training institutions to offer appropriate trainings for building personnel who are interested in earning an industry recognized certificate in Building Energy analysis. ABTAC sponsors the trainings and the exams, fully or partially, depending on the costs.
